I've been choosing Garmin for my boat setups for years now. These products are incredibly reliable and easy to use, extremely versatile, and above all, stable.
Auto Guidance function incompatible with Mercury electric steering engines
Be aware that Mercury Marine, part of the Brunswick Group, favors its own brand of chartplotters, such as Lowrance, which compete with Garmin, the world leader in chartplotters and fishfinders. Therefore, if you purchase a 1223 or 1623 XSV chartplotter, you will lose the extraordinary Auto Guidance feature, which allows your boat to reach a port or waypoint of your choice completely automatically and safely, avoiding, for example, isolated hazards, rocky outcrops, etc. Only Yamaha engines with electronic steering are compatible with Mercury engines!
