Product details

The handy and buoyant GPSmap 78 is equipped with high-quality display technology, with a WAAS-enabled GPS receiver with high sensitivity and with HotFix™ satellite prediction. The striking TFT colour display with 256 colours is suitable for any ambient light, it is very well readable even in bright sunlight. Battery life up to 20 hours. The device has ergonomically designed non-slip rubber side grips. The device is even floatable! A microSD card slot is available for cartograpy, in addition to the internal memory (1.7 GB). The GPSmap 78 is equipped with a built-in worldwide basemap and a USB port, and it is BlueChart g3 - REGULAR compatible (please update the Firmware of the GPSMAP 78 with the Garmin Express Software to Version 7.20 or higher). Comes with manual and USB cable.

The GPSmap 78s also offers an additional electronic compass and a barometric altimeter. The 3-axis electronic compass shows the direction even if you're standing still and if the device is not horizontal. The barometric altimeter identifies your precise altitude with changes in air pressure, and you can even use it to read barometric pressure changes in real time – so you can keep an eye on changing weather conditions. With the GPSmap 78s you can share your waypoints, tracks, routes and geocaches wirelessly with other users with compatible devices, such as the location of your favorite fishing place.

I had the device the whole Kieler Woche 2011 in use and it works reliably in the maritime use, can be supplied with (own) map material, it can be read very well in sunlight and is really waterproof.

Great product, great service. Have directly after delivery the thing on a 4-day Kanutour used and it has me excellent services done. This combined with a top service from SVB (thanks to Mrs. Hentschel).

Very good GPS device with extensive features. The only drawback is the arrangement of the control buttons above the display, which one partially covers when operating. But you can live with it and even serve with one hand. I plugged in an 8GB Micro SD card and played many free cards. I also have all !! the POI offered by Garmin from their homepage loaded and on the mSD card in the directory (Must be created) GARMIN / POI via USB cable from the PC dubbed. After a restart you were immediately available. Conclusion: The purchase was worth it!

Deployed on Folkeboot.
Very practical eg without on-board battery, used on Folkeboot one can simply follow the course of the route and lay down the device within reach.

GARMIN

Hi Michael, sorry it doesn't have this "rolling road" mode. Please check which data type you want to transfer. This device supports .adm and .gpx files for transferring routes and waypoints.
