ICOM Automatic Antenna Tuner AT-141

The tuner does what it's supposed to do. It tends to find tuning solutions quickly, and matches antennas of specified length to an SWR of less than 2. During tuning process, the signal coming from the radio is first fed into an attenuator inside of the tuner, and then, the attenuated signal is used for tuning. As a result of that, during tuning, radio will always see low SWR, which is better than some other tuner brands, which expose radio to high SWR while the tuner is looking for solution.

The build quality of the tuner is quite good. Lots of attention has been paid to waterproofing it, with multiple layers of waterproofing on all openings of the box. Internally, all of the coils are secured with some sort of elastic silicone-looking compound (not the hot-glue which cracks quickly), so I do not believe that vibrations would be an issue.

I removed one star due to a number of very minor bad sides of the tuner
-The screw on the top electrode is a bit short for some of the antenna types recommended in manual. If two wire terminals need to be used, then it can be a bit difficult to install them.
-The nuts on the back of the case are glued to the case with very weak glue. Normally, there's no need to open the tuner, but if it does get opened, it at first looks as if the nuts are captive, but there's still a good chance that some will fall out.
-When tuner has a memorized tuning solution for the frequency in use, and the antenna changes slightly after the solution was memorized, the tuner will continue using the memorized solution, even if a better solution is possible. Switching the tuner to pass-through and re-tuning fixes this.
-Metal finish on mounting plates of the tuner has as few sharp spots
-The rubber piece which goes over the control cable connector wider than the cable. As a result, it's a bit difficult to fill the gap using the rubber vulcanizing tape.
