We have finally replaced the old windlass with this marvel of engineering. The previous one - same make and model - still works if you hammer it, despite 20 or 30 years of heavy use (and annual service). The casing finally broke apart and cannot be repaired properly.rnrnAs I was so impressed with its predecessor's performance and resilience, I bought an exact replacement. It's slightly bigger and heavier, better engineered, and fits exactly in the existing deck holes.rnrnComes with a much improved relay too. Very easy to install, good instructions. rnrnA fantastic and reassuring machine that looks great and in our case, will pull a 100m of 10mm chain up from 25m in a gale and save your boat.

It is amazing that after more than 30 years this excellent windlass is still made with the same hole pattern and is easily interchangeable. The quality is excellent and with a few improvements even more efficient. \ R \ nThe CD-Rom attached to the windlass was unfortunately not playable on WIN7 / 64, only the hole pattern could be displayed. the product is perfect , the delivery is slow because UPS AS NO SERVICE POINTS IN GREECE EXCEPT OF ATHENS AND THESSALONIKI perhaps DHL is a better choise , you sent the product on 1808 on 2408 in athens but delivery at kilada only on 3008

Product details

High-performance, heavy-duty windlasses for larger anchor rigs and frequent anchoring, suitable for larger sailing yachts and motorboats up to 15 metres in length. The TIGRES windlass is characterised by its robust construction, high pulling force and tried-and-tested LOFRANS technology, which ensures comfortable and safe anchoring manoeuvres. Furthermore, the TIGRES horizontal windlass impresses with its housing made from seawater-resistant aluminium. Thanks to its horizontal design, in which most of the windlass is mounted above deck, maintenance is made easier and no space is taken up in the anchor locker, making the windlass suitable even for boats with small anchor lockers.

Corrosion-resistant housing
The corrosion-resistant housing is made from high-quality anodised marine-grade aluminium and offers excellent resistance to saltwater and the harsh conditions encountered on board, ensuring a long service life even under demanding conditions.

Independent operation of gypsy and capstan
The TIGRES windlass is fitted with a hauling capstan, which enables the windlass to carry out additional line-handling tasks. It enables controlled handling of mooring and hauling lines and can assist with harbour manoeuvres. To ensure maximum flexibility on board, the gypsy and the hauling capstan can be operated independently.

Electric operation
The TIGRES anchor windlass is powered by a high-performance 1500 W motor combined with a precisely matched gearbox. A relay box is included for straightforward control of the windlass. The powerful motor delivers high pulling force, allowing the anchor to be recovered quickly and safely, even in demanding conditions. For convenient electric operation, a range of optional remote controls and foot switches is available.
For added safety, the windlass can also be operated manually in an emergency.

Manual chain release
The electric anchor windlass is equipped with a manual chain release, allowing the anchor chain to be paid out quickly and under control.

Ordering and delivery – as always with SVB – were perfect. Approved for our 13mm ISO chain and delivered with a special capstan. Unfortunately, the deck clearance is a bit tight for this chain size, so the chain keeps jamming when retrieving.
