Product details

The CLIPPER Duet combines sonar and speed/distance log in one unit with a constant display of depth and speed. It provides precise information on speed, depth, distance travelled and other trip logs. The log measures speed through the water with no moving parts, but via an alternating magnetic field.
The robust, accurate sensor generates an alternating magnetic field below the boat and measures the resulting electric field produced by the boat moving through the water. The supplied control box converts the sensor signal to a pulse output to connect to the display.
Delivery includes depth sounder transducer, log transducer, Clipper Duet series display and databox. The electromagnetic log transducer is only suitable for GRP hulls.

Reliably does what it is supposed to
The device does what it is supposed to do, and it saves you the hassle of having to deal with the paddle wheel sensor getting clogged up again and again. If you don't need a network, you can't go wrong with it.
Very good value for money. However, they cut costs a little too much on the holder for the flying fuse. It broke during assembly.

CLIPPER Duet incl. Sonar and Electromagnetic Log Transducer in my Triplast Y33 sailboat
It is not yet fully mounted but (boat needs to be onshore on supports) but it was tested by submerging the probe in the water that was in the ship (few cm) and the instrument correctly measured the water depth even through GFK (GRP in English) hull.

Everything was as expected. I'm very satisfied.
We'll only see next summer whether the device will do the job we want.

Generally well-functioning
The box that controls the electromagnetic log is equipped with a 1A glass fuse on the positive wire, in the most lousy fuse holder made in China. It broke after a couple of weeks, and had to be replaced with a fuse holder of much better quality (3€). It requires a little soldering.
Otherwise in good working order

Hi, I want to build this device on my 28 ft Yacht Compis 28. Is this kit complete and does you need to buy anything else. So that I can install the device and make it fully functional? Thank you.

Dear Miroslavas, you will need this on: -#93300#- for the depth transducer. So you will need two hull breakthrough, one for the depth transducer and the second or the speed/distance. Yours SVB-team.
