Atlas Edge was developed for sailors who want to use precise data and modern technology - without unnecessary complexity. It combines powerful sensor technology with a deliberately reduced range of functions and thus offers a simple, direct introduction to data-based sailing.
Ideal for training and regatta use, the Atlas Edge provides exactly the information that is really needed - reliable, comprehensible and available at any time.
GNSS positioning & data rate
The Atlas Edge uses a modern dual-band GNSS system (L1 + L5) that processes several satellite systems simultaneously (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou). This results in particularly precise position and speed data - even under demanding conditions.
With an update rate of up to 25 Hz, movements are recorded almost in real time. This provides noticeably more precise feedback on current performance, especially during fast manoeuvres or changes of direction.
Sensors & motion analysis
The device is equipped with integrated motion sensors (acceleration sensor, gyroscope and magnetometer), which continuously record the position and movement of the boat.
This means that important basic data is available at all times:
- Stable course display
- Reliable speed values
- information on heel (lateral inclination) and pitch (movement forwards and backwards)
The combination of GNSS and sensor technology ensures consistent and traceable data - both while sailing and when analysing the data later on.
Regatta functions
The Atlas Edge deliberately focuses on the essential functions for training and racing. Among other things, it offers
- Countdown timer - precise and synchronised start preparation for clean race starts
- Shift Tracking - detection of wind shifts for better tactical decision-making
- Stripchart View - clear graphical representation of course and performance progression over time
- VMG (Velocity Made Good) - effective speed in the direction of the target to optimise course and speed
In contrast to more comprehensive systems, the Atlas Edge does not use complex starting line calculations such as "Distance to Line". As a result, it remains compliant with the rules in many boat classes and is particularly easy to use. In addition, the device is fully compatible with RaceSense, which supports modern regatta formats and automated race decisions.
Display & user interface
The 4.4-inch transflective display is specially optimised for use on the water. It remains very easy to read even in direct sunlight and offers a wide viewing angle. The display is clearly structured and reduced to the most important information so that all relevant data can be quickly grasped - without the distraction of overloaded menus.
Power supply & operation
With a battery life of over 100 hours, the Atlas Edge is designed for long training days and regatta series. The integrated battery is charged wirelessly via Qi charging technology, eliminating the need for vulnerable plug connections.
