Notes on programming:

AIS MOB transmitters are pre-programmed with an MMSI, which is made up of the serial number, and do not need to be programmed by us before dispatch.

If the AIS MOB transmitter also has a DSC function, you can enter the MMSI number into the device yourself.
Small, light MOB device that is attached to the mouth inflation valve of the automatic lifejacket. The device works with AIS and the DSC function (VHF radio) is already activated for deliveries to Germany. The device triggers MOB alarms in both systems.
The MOB1 is intended to be installed within the life-jacket and will activate automatically on inflation, sending the first alert within 15 seconds.

Note
The Ocean Signal PLB3 is triggered manually using a button, which is protected against false triggering by a corresponding cap. Automatic activation is only possible with a compatible life jacket and adapter (included). Please observe the instructions in the operating manual of the controller.
The powerful, strobe-light makes the device highly visible in all weather conditions.
Once activated your MOB1 will transmit an alert to all AIS receivers and AIS enabled plotters in the vicinity (up to 5 nautical miles, depending on weather conditions). The integrated GPS ensures precise location is sent to your vessel and any others that may be assisting.
In addition, the MOB1 activates a DSC alarm on your on-board radio.
*The DSC function depends on the regulations of the respective countries.

DSC number programming:
You can easily programme the MMSI of your VHF marine radio station for the DSC Relay yourself via the corresponding link for your country https://www.oceansignal.com/installers/
Basic programming of the AIS MOB1 is not necessary, as these are already programmed by default -> 972xxxyyy

Programmable
The MMSI is programmed using a flickering field on the screen. Cool idea.

Sensible!
I hope I never need to be rescued. There are also monthly running costs. Overall, the watch should have more features.

AIS distress transmitter
I can't say yet whether the transmitter works. But from the description it's a really great device that I will always carry with me. Programming to your own MMSI is a bit tricky because it depends on the quality of the screen of the device being programmed. It only worked for me with the third device (desktop, notebook, tablet). Only with this connection to the radio does the distress transmitter really make sense.

MOB triggered unnoticed!
Yes, the Italian Coast Guard was fortunately understanding when they drove over 10 miles to us because of a false alarm! Correctly installed, simply triggered unnoticed while wearing. And then another false alarm, all alone in the harbor, but that was due to the life jacket that triggered itself in the dry camp. I rate the life jacket separately. Well, battery dead, finding replacements really hard when you're on the move. I call the product irresponsible because false positives are far too likely and this has devastating effects.
