hello, I have just purchased 2 of these, where can I find application instructions?
Dear customer, the datasheet is available as a PDF on this page. Thanks.
Hi! I would like to know what quantity this product is, and if i can mix matt aditive color aditive with him, and if you do have some kind of matt aditive. Many thanks. António Batel
The can is 500 grams, and I mixed colour additive (yellow and brown) to make a cream colour. Remember to adjust the colour first, then only when you are happy with the colour do you add in the hardner catalysing component.
Thank you for your answer. I have a white fade color, I was thinking of making the white gelcoat with black to match it. Are you agree with this? Or should I get a yellow or brown instead?
For your situation black is probably better, my case the colour I needed to match was a cream, so of course needed the yellow brown. I actually recommend getting several colours (they are not expensive), so you can play mixing. In any case take a look at this video, he gives a really nice explanation on how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoURRmkD8MY
Ok i get it! And with matting additive, do you know something for that?
For matting additive I don't know, you'll have to check if the matting additive is chemically compatible with the gel coat. In my case I had only ordered the yellow from svb, locally for brown could only get a water base dye, I was worried but after some research found that it would be ok, the fact is it worked quite well. This is why I was saying get several colours, for example blue in your case may make sense. Then you will need some patience to very slowly add tiny bits of dye until the colour is the same. The matting effect may work just by the polishing work at the end of the process.
Thank you so much for your reply!! I think I go for the black and yellow too. The video really helps! Thank you!!
There is a need of apply pva to this gelcoat to not get stikhy? To get cured? Thank you so much
Hi! No, you only use the hardener provided and at 2% wait two days. then it will stay as a rock. Nice product!
Can we mix paint with this gelcoat? like for example toplac international? https://www.svb24.com/en/international-toplac-high-gloss-one-component-varnish.html
Gelcoat is not to be mixed with paint.
Ok! Understand, tank you so much!
Do I need to add WAX to this product? I want to apply this inside the engine room and I don't want a sticky surface. A gelcoat needs the wax to fully cure, so the final coat needs to have the wax in it. However, the gel will not properly bond with the coat below it unless you sand the surfacing wax off. A common practice when applying multiple coats is to use unwaxed gel at first, and use gel with wax added for the final coat.
Dear Jan, you dont need any wax for this product. Please contact us for more information: [email protected] // Your SVB-team.
