SHAKESPEARE PL258 Connector for RG8X and RG58U for crimp-free and solderless installation. The revolutionary design of this gold-plated PL connector allows for easy and fast assembly, without any special tools.
- for RG-8X and RG58 cable
- Quick and easy assembly without special tools (no crimping pliers, no soldering iron).
- High-quality gold-plated quality, thus ideal HF conductivity, no corrosion.
The perfect solution for the tedious task of connecting RG-58U or RG8X coaxial cables!
The revolutionary design of this gold-plated PL connector allows for easy and fast assembly, without any special tools. No more annoying and time-consuming measuring, stripping, soldering or crimping! The O-ring protects the plug at the cable entry from splashing/jet water.
Our tip: Apply a little acid-free grease to the threads of the knurled screw (cover ring) and coupling screw (coupling ring). This prevents the penetration of moisture / water even at these parts of the plug-in connection.
Summary
- Suitable for RG8X (6 mm outer diameter), RG58U (5 mm outer diameter).
- Quick and easy assembly without special tools (no crimping pliers, no soldering iron).
- High-quality gold-plated quality, thus ideal HF conductivity, no corrosion.
- Cable entry through integrated O-ring waterproof.
Included in delivery
- 1x coaxial connector
- 2x plastic adapter sleeve (5/6 mm inner/outer diameter)
- 2x O-ring (4/7 mm inner/outer diameter)
- 2x knurled screw
Installation instructions
- Slide the knurled screw (cover ring) onto the cable (the female thread must point towards the end of the cable).
- Slide the O-ring onto the cable.
IMPORTANT: The cable end must not be slanted, damaged, or dirty.
Cut it straight off.
- For RG 58 cables, plug the plastic adapter sleeve (nylon adapter) onto the cable.
(This enlarges the outer diameter to the size of RG8X and centres the cable in the connector.)
- Insert the RG8X cable without the plastic adapter sleeve and the RG58U cable with the plastic adapter sleeve firmly and as far as possible into the cable inlet of the connector.
The middle pin in the plug has to screw into the core of the coax cable!
- Take a pair of combination pliers or water pump pliers, place them on the roughened surfaces of two opposite claws (piercing fingers) and press the claws carefully and evenly into the outer insulation of the cable.2 The claws cut through the insulation, establish contact with the cable's shielding braid and also act as strain relief.
Proceed with all 3 claw pairs.
- Slide the O-ring on to the pressed claws.
- Slide the knurled screw connection over the cable entry and tighten firmly.
- The same steps apply to the second cable.
- Done!
Notes
- Our product range also includes a PL259 connector for RG58U and RG8X using the same technology.
- Individual parts of this item are not available as spare parts.
