Maximum protection for cables, operators and against fire in a 230 V shore power unit.
This combination provides reliable total protection in case of residual current, short circuits and overloads, as well as arcs which can occur in 230 V installations with loose terminal/plug connections, cable breaks or insulation damage, or with defective connection lines. Even if there is a polarity reversal** of the outer conductor (phase / L) and neutral conductor (neutral conductor / N) when connecting the AC on-board network to the utility network, this combination continues to work and ensures safety on board.
Common installations with RCDs and RCCBs cannot detect possible arcs in defective electrical equipment and it is statistically proven that arcs in electrical systems are among the most frequent causes of fire.
**Polarity reversal of the phase conductor and neutral conductor can happen if the supply-end CEE connection box (on the jetty) is not wired correctly, there is a polarity reversal within the shore power connection cable or when using Schuko plug connections. If you sleep on board your boat or caravan, and at the same time run chargers, fan heaters or cooling devices, you should use this innovative and compact shore power unit for an all-round safe AC power supply and to avoid possible fires caused by electrical equipment in the on-board AC network!
Small but nice!
The combination of a compact SIEMENS RCD/RCCB breaker and innovative AFDD fire circuit-breaker only requires the space of 4 dividing units, 1 dividing unit = 17.5-18 mm) in a small distribution box.
Residual Current Device / Circuit Breaker (RCD/RCCB)
The integrated SIEMENS residual current circuit breaker ensures the required personal protection for residual currents > 30 mA and short-circuit and overload protection for currents of 16 A. It works exactly the same as previous (RCD/RCCB) switches, but takes up considerably less space.
Fire Protection Breaker (AFDD)
The integrated SIEMENS fire protection breaker (Arc Fault Detection Device, or AFDD for short) first detects dangerous electric fault arcs, such as those that can occur at serial line damage points, i.e.. non-secure contacts such as loose screw or plug contacts. These faults are not detected by the RCD/RCCB breaker!
The AFDD also detects arcs that can occur as a result of insulation faults between active conductors or against the protective conductor.
In both cases, the circuit is quickly and reliably broken, preventing electrically ignited fires.
Insulation faults occur on board, for example, due to vibrations, thermal expansion and shrinkage, mechanical stress, corrosion and ageing.
Plastic housing (small distribution box or overload protector box) with transparent door
Grey surface mounted housing (RAL 7035), waterproof to IP65 with DIN rail, suitable for 5 dividing units, four rear mounting holes with a diameter of 5.5 mm. Dimensions (H x W x D): 122 x 125 x 200 mm.
