The SX series external stern thrusters are perfect for boats with twin stern drives. They feature special cowls that divert the water flow past the stern drive legs to provide excellent thrust performance. These stern thrusters come pre-assembled in a watertight housing and feature fully sealed cable connection points. Only a small hole in the boat's transom is required for power and control cables. Fully ignition protected for use in boats with petrol engines - no fumes can enter through the sealed connection points. As they are externally mounted, the SX series units are the perfect choice if the inside configuration of the boat’s stern makes a standard thruster installation impractical.
Technical specifications:
- On-board voltage: 12 volts
- Maximum thrust at 10.5V: 80 kg, at 12V : 96 kg
- Power at 10.5 V : 4.4 kW
- Tunnel diameter: 185 mm
- Hull thickness: max. 100 mm (recommended 80 mm)
- Weight: 52 kg
SX stern thrusters can also be fitted with a proportional speed control.
IPC Intelligent Power Control
Side-Power systems feature an integrated processor that constantly monitors relay function to protect against malfunction and ensure the safety of the vessel and crew in the event of user error.
Sealed Gearleg
Sealed gearleg with long-life mechanical seal, where highly polished ceramic and carbon surfaces form the only moving sealing surfaces. Pre-filled with special gear oil for lifetime lubrication and maximum protection against water ingress.
Twin Propellers
The twin propeller system gives more thrust than a single propeller system in the same tunnel diameter. Side-Power use this principle in systems for medium-sized boats where high thrust is needed in a small tunnel diameter. Due to the compact design and high performance, the twin models have become the thruster of choice among boat builders around the world.
Galvanic Separation
The gearbox housings of most 12 and 24 volt Side-Power bow thrusters are fully galvanically isolated / separated from the electric motor and motor bracket.
IP - Sealed Design
These electric thrusters are fully ignition protected and can be safely installed in the engine compartment on boats with petrol engines (ISO 8846).
They have a hermetically sealed composite housing around all electric parts, ensuring that no petrol fumes or water can enter and reach the electric motor or other system components. This makes these thrusters the ideal choice for other stern thruster installations where it is difficult to ensure that the thruster will always remain dry.
