Notes on programming:

AIS MOB transmitters are pre-programmed with an MMSI, which is made up of the serial number, and do not need to be programmed by us before dispatch.

If the AIS MOB transmitter also has a DSC function, you can enter the MMSI number into the device yourself.

What is a Class M AIS distress beacon?
To protect the AIS system from overloads caused by false alarms, a new European regulation, ECC/DEC/(22)02 has been approved and is scheduled to be implemented from December 2024. Under this regulation, in countries that adopt the Class-M standard, AMRDs (autonomous maritime radio devices, such as AIS MOBs), will no longer be permitted to use AIS channels 1 and 2. Instead, they will be required to switch to channel 2006, which is not designated as an emergency channel.

Safety also starts here
We hope we never need it, but if we do, we can rely on both the product and the Coast Guard's response. In fact, as soon as it arrived, I tested it with the alarm on my MMSI, and it worked well. Shortly afterward, I received a call on 16 from the Coast Guard that they had received the alarm. I was surprised because I had used the test function, but it was further confirmation of the reliability of the product and the system connected to it. I strongly recommend notifying the Coast Guard before testing to avoid unnecessary alarms.

Good tool for security at the station
Gutrs MOB tool, easy to use and handy. I don't think the holder is quite perfect for an automatic life jacket. I just use it with the included strap in my sailing trousers. Test mode is helpful and immediately shows the function on the AIS. The delivery time was unfortunately 3 months later than stated with delays...probably because it's a new product.
