The cell or hotspot protector prevents the cells in the module from overheating when the solar module is partially shaded. For this purpose, 2 bypass diodes are soldered onto the circuit board. (In conventional glass modules with aluminum frames, these bypass diodes are located inside of the junction box, on the back of the modules). In case of damage, the diodes can be easily replaced. These diodes are installed by SunWare, directly inside of the cell protector, rather than inside of the connection cap.
Inside of the cell protector, 2 bypass diodes have been integrated in order to prevent possible cell overheating. Reverse current protection has also been integrated. Since all SunWare solar controllers are equipped with reverse current protection, the cell protector's output "+" can be used here. For solar controllers without integrated backflow protection, select output "D +". This includes the reverse current protection diode.
1: Cell protector with circuit board
2: Connection type "Bypass": left: two cables to the charge controller, terminals "+", "-" (With this connection, the cells are protected from the "hotspot effect," through the use of 2 bypass diodes)
3: Connection type "Bypass + reverse current protection": left: two cables are connected to the charge controller terminals: "+ _D", "-" (With this connection, the cells are protected by 2 bypass diodes before the hotspot effect is protected by a blocking diode against reverse current within the module. Several modules can be operated in parallel, which helps prevent accidental damage to the modules)
4: Cell protector with housing, Dimensions: L 88 x W 35 x H 25 mm
Caution: Before using your solar module, ensure that the enclosed cell protector has been connected! The cell protector may not be damp or wet in any way. Each SunWare solar module must be connected to the cable end with the associated cell protector. Only after the cell protector has been connected, can the solar modules be connected in a series or in parallel.
Made in Germany!
All SunWare products are developed, tested and produced in Germany. The front cover of the modules are also made in Germany. By doing this, the high quality requirements of our products and materials can also be guaranteed.
