Product details

The VDO Viewline freshwater gauge measures the level of the fresh water tank. The unit is supplied as a complete system with instrument, mounting material and capacitive sensor for tank depths of 80-600 mm.

The tank sensor is galvanically isolated. Suitable for conductive liquids, such as fresh water, grey or faecal waste water in steel, aluminum, and plastic tanks. Warning point adjustable at the sensor. On request also available for a tank's depth of 1500 mm.

I tested this product in the workshop (before assembly) with a temporary connection and a bucket of water: random measurement ... it took me a long time to find a bad contact at the sensor: the clamping screws knock-out rods were coated with a green paint that had to be removed with acetone, and then worked well. \ n \ nDeleted by the zero (electrodes released from the water) which is not quite at the zero of the graduation. It is astonishing that the dial is much less accurate than that for greywater.

a disappointment

From my point of view VDO demands a proud price for this product. It is incomprehensible that no installation instructions are enclosed. This should be obtained on the Web or refer to the enclosed CD. Think that one can not assume today that every computer has a CD drive. In any case, I can find neither on the website nor on the CD a suitable description for the donor. This has three connections - two of them with cable lugs. The encoder that comes closest to my product (at least in the manuals I found) has a four-pin special plug in the description. Now, as a customer, I am allowed to search how to connect the parts. It is extremely helpful if the instrument with eight! Cables can be connected. How can you seriously provide 8 cables to operate a fresh water indicator and then attach no installation instructions?
