VETUS Type 6 Coupling

Type 6 coupling can be mounted to the propeller shaft with a special conical clamping hub. No cone needs to be screwed onto the shaft. The coupling is pre-drilled with a mounting hole for 4-inch and 5-inch connection flanges on the gearbox (suitable for Hurth, Paragon and Velvet reversing gearboxes). Matching mounting bolts are sold separately. Load capacity (max. motor power): 5.3 hp per 100 rpm at the shaft. Outer Ø: 138 mm, total length: 86 mm.

Find the right coupling in three steps.
1st step: First check the engine horsepower.
2nd step: What is the reduction ratio?
Here is an example using a 55 hp engine with 3600 rpm and a reduction ratio of 2:1.
Step 3: Calculate as follows: 3600 rpm / 2 (reduction ratio 2:1) = 1800 rpm / 100 rpm * 5.3 (load capacity of the coupling) = 95.4 hp max. power. Type 6 coupling is therefore suitable.
