Victron products and SVB service: a perfect symbiosis. After getting extremely frustrated with all the cheap LiFePO4 chargers from the Amazon, which either smelled like a chemical plant or had fans that drove me absolutely crazy, I reluctantly switched to Victron. Sure, the device costs three times as much as a cheap Chinese charger, but it's worth every penny. It's completely silent and charges my 700-amp auxiliary battery without any problems. At the same time, it maintains a low current in the starter battery. ... And it was a "last-minute" purchase; I needed something reliable quickly because my 1kW solar panel system was no longer able to charge my leisure battery under the harsh winter conditions of northern Germany. Normally, I'm in a more southerly climate at this time of year and have always managed without shore power. Originally, I was planning on getting a Bulltron combination inverter with a 100A charger (mains priority switching, 16A fuse, residual current device, Victron CAN bus). However, it wasn't available locally on such short notice. Perhaps SVB will add the Bulltron devices to their product range; I'd be just about the first customer to buy one immediately! The Phoenix Smart IP43 is a powerful charger that can power up to three battery banks. It can be monitored and operated using an app via Bluetooth. This high-tech battery charger is suitable for almost every type of battery. Also for lithium-ion batteries (LiFePO4). Thanks to the 2 isolated charging outputs, a lithium battery can be charged on one output and a lead-acid battery on the other output at the same time.

Note:
The charger is supplied without an AC connection cable. This must be ordered separately "VICTRON AC power cable 2 metres / itm.: 41330"

Bluetooth
The charger can be controlled via Bluetooth from a smartphone, tablet or laptop. The device also features a VE.Direct port and programmable relay. Smart Battery Sense can also be connected to control the battery temperature compensation. The Phoenix Smart Charger IP43 is a universally usable high-tech battery charger thanks to its well-known five-step charge algorithm and the ability to programme your own charge algorithm.

Charge algorithm
Phoenix Smart features an adaptive 5-step charge algorithm. Adaptive means that the charge process is automatically optimised to the way the battery is being used. In addition to the standard three charging levels (bulk, absorption and float), the Phoenix Smart offers a fourth and fifth level: storage and recondition. Following a deep discharge, the absorption time is increased automatically to ensure that the battery is fully charged. When the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours, Storage Mode kicks in.

Long life
To protect the batteries in the best possible way, Phoenix Smart has various features such as BatterySafe mode, which prevents excessive gassing, a temperature sensor, which limits the rate of voltage increase as the battery temperature rises, or a voltage sensor to compensate for voltage losses due to cable resistance, so that the battery always receives the correct charging current.

Battery types
The Phoenix Smart charger is controlled by microprocessors that adjust to almost any type of battery. Suitable for lead-acid, AGM, gel and lithium-ion batteries.

Simple system with DC consumers only
The battery charger charges the battery and at the same time serves as a power supplier for the connected devices.

Easy to install and configure and completely noise-free.
Can get a little warm when running at full power, but not to the point of being a problem.
I would buy this again.

Good with potential

Basically, it does what it's supposed to. But unlike my previous device, a Philippi, which can charge AGM and LiFePO4 batteries simultaneously, this one has such a strong power surge that it tripped the circuit breaker while we were in port. Only a damping circuit prevents this. Technical support forwarded the device to Victron, who couldn't find any fault. The replacement device exhibited the same behavior.
