Notes on programming:

AIS MOB transmitters are pre-programmed with an MMSI, which is made up of the serial number, and do not need to be programmed by us before dispatch.

If the AIS MOB transmitter also has a DSC function, you can enter the MMSI number into the device yourself.
The Class M easy2-MOB from Weatherdock is a combined AIS/DSC distress transmitter and can be activated manually as well as automatically. In an emergency, the device sends an instant alert to all vessels in the immediate vicinity and ensures that rescue attempts can be made as quickly as possible. Powerful red LEDs and an integrated strobe light also increase visibility.

Weatherdock Class M easy2-MOB marine rescue transmitter approved to the latest standard
As of 1st January 2021, a new standard (ECDIS 63269 IEC 2022) for AIS MOB (Man over Board) rescue beacons has been in place. This standard states that all "AIS MOB" devices with DSC (Digital Selective Calling) also require a DSC receiver. It must also be possible to switch off all automatic mechanisms.
From 1 January 2025, the sale of existing AIS MOB devices will be prohibited and it is currently unclear whether the use of such devices will still be permitted from this point onwards. The Weatherdock easy2-MOB, is a class M approved AIS maritime distress transmitter.

DSC function
Alert up to eight vessels whose MMSI numbers have been pre-programmed via Bluetooth and the Weatherdock app. DSC signals can be both transmitted as well as received. If the unit receives no acknowledgement, it switches automatically to “open loop distress call” transmitting. This signal can be picked up and relayed by commercial vessels to forward the distress call, thus the chance of being saved is increased many times over.

AIS function
Parallel to DSC, the emergency transmitter sends an AIS distress call alert. This signal is received by all vessels with AIS on board within a radius of up to 7 nautical miles. The data is updated and re-transmitted every minute.

Highly versatile
The emergency transmitter does not require any special tools for attachment. Due to its compact size, it is suitable for use with a wide range of life jackets. Simply slide it head down between the folded bladder. The safety line is attached inside, e.g. to an existing ring with a knot.

A useful addition to the safety equipment after a long wait
After a long wait, easy2-MOB has now arrived with the announced new features, in particular an LED signal for people in the water when the emergency call is "acknowledged". Accommodation in the lifejackets (Spinlock LITE and 5D) is easy, even if the device is not tiny. Programming the MMSI of the "mother ship" via an app works well, although the app still has a bug (it does not display the AIS distress beacon's own MMSI), but according to Weatherdock it will be fixed. Incidentally, Weatherdock responded quickly and clearly to my query regarding the missing device MMSI. Hopefully we don't have to rely on the devices, but we have confidence in the manufacturer and the technology because of the previous models. A purchase recommendation due to the useful features (buoyant, easy to integrate into vests, app, range, DSC integration).

good quality-price compromise
Compared to other similar products it seems to be a good compromise between quality and price
At the moment I have only configured it, tested it and attached it to the life jacket (a bit uncomfortable given the bulk)
Fortunately I have not had the opportunity to really try it but I hope it does its job.
I recommend it for those who sail on boats with AIS and especially if in off-shore regattas

Good, but terrible service
I have three copies of this product, in slightly older versions than this one, which means that I can testify to its use, a crew member having fallen into the water with it. The triggering was instantaneous, and everything worked without a hitch, except that it would have been necessary to keep in mind the deactivation procedure. The time to find the documentation (after having recovered the crew member) to deactivate the transmission, the device continued to transmit with the consequences that one can imagine. Not very serious, but it is better to be prepared!). On the other hand, when the device triggered, the part holding the antenna rolled up and broke. Contacted, Weatherdock technical support told me that this was a known problem, which had been resolved by replacing this part with a stronger one. Do you think they would have offered me a free replacement part (since it was a design flaw)? Well no. I had to buy it. And even bought several to update my other devices. Only a few euros (plus shipping), so not ruinous, but not very elegant. Since then, I have been getting ACR equipment. ACR replaces used devices for free. (They just ask for a written testimonial of their use to put on their site.)
