For comprehensive boat monitoring, even when you are not on board: introducing the ME SENSE system from Weatherdock. With the ME SENSE system you can keep abreast of individual data via app and expand the system modularly as desired. The base pack is the perfect entry-level system for starting out. Includes the WiFi relay (HUB) required for operation, as well as temperature sensor. The WiFi relay serves as a base station through which the data from all ME SENSE sensors in the system connect via Bluetooth. From there, data reaches the cloud via a connected WiFi network where it can be accessed via an app. The WiFi relay also serves as a battery sensor by monitoring the voltage of the battery to which it is connected for power supply. Due to its small size and weight, the temperature sensor can be easily attached using, for example, double-sided adhesive tape wherever it is needed: in the engine compartment or to monitor temperature fluctuations of the battery in winter storage. If no WiFi is available, you can also simply connect the WiFi relay to the separately available GATE LTE internal module, which can independently establish a connection to the Internet by using the LTE network.
Note:
The basic version of the ME SENSE app is available for free for one sensor without a subscription. If you want to use additional sensors for monitoring and display on your smartphone, you will need the app subscription. Subscription is free for the first year upon purchase of the Advanced Set.
Overall, a very good product that consumes little power and data (400-800 MB per month). Setup is easy, and there's a wide range of sensors. Remote control is even possible.
The downside is that you can't connect to the Wi-Fi in some marinas – specifically, when the Wi-Fi requires manual confirmation of the connection (captive portal). Furthermore, it can only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks, not 5 GHz. It took me a while to figure this out. This should be more clearly stated in the manual and ideally changed.
