Description
The YANMAR 2GM is a two-cylinder diesel engine from YANMAR’s GM series, which was manufactured from around 1981 to 1984. It delivers a maximum power output of 15 PS at 3600 revolutions per minute; in continuous operation, the power output is 13 PS at 3400 revolutions per minute. The combustion system features a swirl pre-chamber, and the dry weight is up to 108 kilograms. It is started electrically via a 12-volt starting system rated at 1.0 kilowatts, whilst a 12-volt alternator rated at 35 amperes supplies the on-board battery. Lubrication is provided by a trochoid pump with forced circulation. The YANMAR GM series also includes the single-cylinder 1GM10 and the three-cylinder 3GM, which differ in the number of cylinders and power output but share the same design and injection technology. The 2GM is characterised by its compact design and simple, mechanical technology without any electronics. These features make the YANMAR 2GM a widely used main propulsion unit for small to medium-sized sailing boats.
