Description
The Hallberg-Rassy 34 is a sailing yacht from the Swedish shipyard Hallberg-Rassy with a length of 10.28 metres and is one of Germán Frers' designs. In contrast to older S-frame models, it uses a fin keel and a free-standing rudder, which changes the handling and manoeuvring behaviour. The rig is designed as a 7/8 rig. The cockpit is laid out as an aft cockpit and designed for sheltered seating positions. Below deck there is a saloon with bench seats, a galley on the companionway, a separate wet room and a self-contained aft cabin instead of a dog bunk. Storage space and functional areas are clearly separated, which supports longer stays on board. Compared to the Hallberg-Rassy 312, the Hallberg-Rassy 34 has a more modern hull concept and a different interior layout with an aft cabin. This means that the Hallberg-Rassy 34 represents a more modern hull and interior concept within the series.

Very good boat. Excellent upwind performance, as good as, or even better than, many modern and trendy boats, even in light winds. The hull isn't optimized for fast downwind sailing in strong winds, but we never carry much sail downwind in winds over 20 knots when cruising with the family. We don't exceed 8 knots downwind, but that suits us perfectly. At the helm, the boat is always smooth and balanced. Under autopilot upwind or close reach, the helm barely moves, except in very rough seas. The hull's smoothness in slightly rougher seas is remarkable, and the comfort inside is genuine. It's an ocean-going boat, made for several nights on board. And it's so well built! The boat is 26 years old now (in 2026), and after a thorough cleaning and tidying, it looks almost new! In any case, in much better condition than many 10-year-old boats. I will keep it for a long time.
