NASA TARGET 2 Echo-Sounder (Instrument / Sensor)

Drop-in replacement for old Seafarer 501 sounder. Uses the same transducer as the seafarer and the display fits the cutout for the seafarer repeater display. Only thing to watch out for on NASA istruments is the seal between the two halves. On my old boat it gave in after 10+ years, letting water leak in to the instrument.

Very good value for money (delivered with the probe) large display, clear in direct sunlight with a function allowing to deduce the draft of the boat. It does the job very well with very good precision which I checked with a hand probe. The flat is on the notice (English and German) quite difficult to understand. I have not managed to use the treschold function and the sounder is disturbed at the port (this function should resolve this problem).

Product details

NASA TARGET 2 echo sounder incl. sensor with a depth-measuring range of 0.8 m to 100 m, adjustable low and shallow water alarm and keel offset.

The large instrument display with background lighting makes it easy to read the measured depth from a great distance. Power consumption is 12 mA (22 mA with lighting). Dimensions of the instrument are 132 x 98 x 30 mm.

Hole spacings of the stud bolts:

Horizontal: 80 mm
Vertical: 73 mm

Delivery comes complete with sensor and 7 meter connection cable.

Tip for the connection to an alarm transmitter:
Red wire to positive, black wire to the green display line (alarm output).

Our tips for the proper assembly of this unit:

First, you must provide voltage to the display device and connect it to the transmitter. Next, you must hold the transmitter in a water-filled plastic bag until a stable depth reading is achieved. Now, the final tuning of this device can be performed. However, if no stable depth reading can be successfully achieved, you should choose a breakthrough assembly instead.

I replaced my old NASA Target sounder with this one: perfect interchangeability. The 7m cable remains a bit short for a 9m boat, knowing that the sensor is preferably positioned at the front of the boat. \ R \ nVery competitive price and sufficient functionality for a non-angling boater.
