Product details

Designed to take the shock out of berthing! These FORSHEDA mooring compensators are made of EPDM rubber. The compensator stretches and stops the snatching of the line against boat and jetty. It is designed for heavy use. By varying the turns of the rope, you can adjust the hardness of the damping, it gives a different amount of stretch. The material is resistant against UV and seawater. Available in different sizes. 

Note: For 3 turns around the mooring compensator, you need approx. 20-30 cm rope. More or less rope depending on the number of turns.

Consider this when ordering rigging dimensions.
Ready made mooring line can be furnished with whipping for example. By using whipping, the outer diameter of the mooring line is larger and can not be threaded through the eyelets of the jerk damper.
Our tip: In most cases, choose a shock absorber one size larger.

Don't hold when you need them
I have used these dampers for decades. As long as the marina is protected, everything is fine - but beware if things get serious. Because of strong winds or waves in the harbor. I broke 5 of them within a short space of time. After the first 2 mistakes, I converted the rest to just 2, then just 1 wrap - didn't help. Still broke.

To this day, Forsheda has not given me an answer as to what the problem could have been. In any case, I was assured that the expiration date is irrelevant. So why is it on the date?

Since the parts are difficult to install and even more difficult to remove from the rope, I will not use them in future.

Expiration date not mentioned in the description
One star for the fact that in the product description it doesn't seem to be clearly indicated that the product has an expiration date or at least this is stamped on the rubber.
In this specific case, the expiry date is 2026.
