Product details

SHAKESPEARE Centerpin PL connector for RG8X and RG58 coax cables. The revolutionary design of this gold-plated PL connector allows for easy and fast assembly, without any special tools. No more annoying and time-consuming measuring, stripping, soldering or crimping!

Our tip: Apply a little acid-free grease to the threads of the knurled screw (cover ring) * and coupling screw (coupling ring) *. This prevents the penetration of moisture / water even at these parts of the plug-in connection. It prevents corrosion and makes loosening the screw connection at a deck separation point child's play, for example when laying masts.

Plastic adapter sleeve (5/6 mm inner / outer Ø)
O-ring (4/7 mm inner / outer Ø)
Knurled screw

Assembly Instructions

Slide the knurled screw (cover ring) onto the cable (the female thread must point towards the end of the cable).
Slide the O-ring onto the cable.
IMPORTANT: The cable end must not be slanted, damaged, or dirty.
For RG 58 cables, plug the plastic adapter sleeve (nylon adapter) onto the cable.
Installation is easy when you plug the PL connector into a SO 239 socket (for example, on the antenna, radio, or a deck disconnect) and secure with the coupling screw (Coupling ring).
Insert the RG8X cable without plastic adapter sleeve, RG 58 cable with plastic adapter sleeve as far as possible into the cable entry of the connector.
The middle pin in the plug has to screw into the core of the coax cable!
Proceed with all 3 claw pairs.
Slide the O-ring on to the pressed claws.
Slide the knurled screw connection over the cable entry and tighten firmly.
Done!

This connector is expensive but of excellent quality. Its durability should be verified without soldering.

Almost brilliant!

Installation at the top of the mast was a success! Soldering would have been impossible ;-)
The strain relief by clamping the cable is much more reliable than simply screwing the cable in with standard connectors. Two points of criticism The "fingers" that clamp the cable seem to be bent unnecessarily far, when pressed together they felt like they were about to break off - but that didn't happen! The price is very high, so they remain the exception for difficult cases, in everyday life I will go back to soldering! I think €10 would be reasonable...
