Product details

USB dual-power socket with integrated voltage regulator and blue LED. For charging electronic devices via USB that also require a high charging current. Connections: 1x USB-C and 1xUSB-A.
The USB dual port requires 8 - 34 Volt DC voltage supply, is therefore suitable for 12 and 24 V on board networks. The 5 V output voltage can be loaded with 3.6 amps and is overload and short-circuit proof. A 28 mm hole is required for mounting in a control panel or dashboard, and the panel thickness can be up to 16 mm. This dual socket plug is secured and tightened with a hexagon nut. Two pre-assembled 150 mm long connection cables (red = PLUS, black = MINUS) enable easy connection to the on-board power supply. Emark-certified, therefore also approved for use in motor vehicles. Delivery includes: USB double socket, anti-twist protection (seal), plastic hexagon nut, multilingual instructions.

Notes USB A/C double socket is perfect for charging most devices. It can supply a total of at least 3.6 amps at both sockets (regardless of the split). However, the charging electronics of the connected devices will determine how high the charging current actually is.
  • If, for example, a type A USB port is wired according to BC 1.2 standard, this means that the connected device will receive a maximum charging current of 1.5 A, even though the port itself can supply considerably more power.
  • In the case of the USB-C port, the possible current is controlled via a data line and should, for example, charge an iPad-Pro with up to 3 amps. However, the type of cable also determines whether this control signal is actually passed on to the unit.
Ideally, USB-C should simplify charging. Unfortunately, many manufacturers have further complicated proceedings by using different methods.

In short: USB ports should be able to charge as many different devices as possible, and this usually works well.
However, there are exceptions where the charging current is limited by the charging electronics of the connected devices or by unsuitable charging cables.

Upgrading to USB-C
I am replacing the existing USB-A connectors by this one. It requires using pieces of the old one and combine with pieces of this one. They are of the same size and the work isn't too hard.
