Lofrans X2 with drum

I needed to replace my anchor windlass. I specked the correct winch, especially the gypsy for my UK 10mm chain. You sent to me an anchor winch with the incorrect gypsy. You replaced the gypsy, but it took a long time and I had to pay the import duty on the replacement gypsy. I believe you should reimburse me the cost of what I paid the South African customs. I also suggest you include both ISO & DIN gypsies when its for 10mm chain, as there was no indication on the packing box referencing which gypsy it was before opening the box. I have fitted the Lofrans X2 and now I have a working anchor windlass.
Please pass my sincere thanks to Stanley whos without his help, the problem; your problem, would not have been resolved.

High quality and solid anchor winch.

I bought this anchor winch from Lofrans, basically because I had to replace an old Plastimo PWV1000 and it looked as if the position of the screws was identical or you could use the same holes on the deck. Fortunately, that worked out pretty well. However, a tip for potential buyers is to check the thickness of the deck, as the screws supplied as standard are sufficient for a maximum of 4cm. I don't know if you can adjust this when ordering, but I had to "tinker" longer screws on site because these screws without a head are not available everywhere. Otherwise everything went well. Delivered in a flash and the winch works perfectly.

They are under construction, and I can say that the product is much better than the 2004 Tyron 1000 W. Both the texture and the materials used are very different, more massive, as the design is better. Fortunately, the fixation plate holes have remained unaltered, except for the chain passage that needs a 60 mm enlargement, no problem. My negative rating relates to the installation documentation.
The cutting template is incorrect; a 15mm hole is not required. Confirmed by Lofrans.
The wiring diagram included with the delivered windlass does not correspond to the windlass model. It can also be misleading regarding the polarity of the terminals. The minus sign is almost illegible, even though a plus sign is clearly visible just above it!

I hope that with use, I won't have any other unpleasant surprises...

Cannot recommend

The drum arrived with a big dent. The shipping box was fine so this must have happened in the factory. The arm which guides rope was missing and after being used 15 times the chrome on the drum started flaking off (parts I thought was supposed to be stainless!).
I have emailed Lofrans many times over the course of 4 months (through svb) but Lofrans keep "forgetting to reply"..

The difference between freefall and hard lock on the clutch is about 30 degrees which makes it somewhat annoying to use. I replaced a 15 year old Anchorlift and this was a huge downgrade.

Because of their complete lack of customer service and the product being of such bad quality I will not buy anything from Lofrans again.
