Already purchased and installed on the previous boat. Great, works well used on MacBook and OpenCPN. I'm waiting for the MMSI to put it in full service

My device transmits via the (emergency) antenna on the stern basket and is also installed in the rear cabin. From there I don't need to lay any cables to the helm, the data comes via WiFi directly to the chart plotter and to the crew's cell phones. The multiplexer with one input and one output each for NMEA 0183 and 2000 comes in handy when you need one.
The device can send message 27 to satellites, which could be interesting for Atlantic sailors.
To configure it you need WIN10 or higher and the included USB cable. Unfortunately you cannot configure the transponder via an Android app and WiFi. More detailed configuration instructions, AISCfgTool_Manual.pdf, can be requested from the manufacturer servicealltekmarine.com. Be careful, www.alltek.sg is not the AMEC branch in Singapore but a malware-infected fake.

It worked flawlessly the first time I connected. Immediately the AIS targets appeared on the plotter screen via NMEA2000. The on-board VHF is also connected via NMEA183, to transmit GPS coordinates. All perfect!

Easy installation and commissioning, detailed and easy to understand explanations, works flawlessly, boot also visible in relevant tracking apps (if Class B is not switched off due to network overload).

The AMEC B 600 is well made and already has SOTDMA technology. I programmed the device, this was very easy with the enclosed CD. Installation was problem-free and the transponder has been running smoothly ever since. We use the AMEC B 600 up here in Northern Norway with a second VHF antenna on the pushpit. Both the GPS reception and transmission / reception are impeccable.

I had opted for the built-in NMEA 0183-2000 converter. Unfortunately, it only supports very few message types, which I overlooked. I could have saved a lot of money...

And I would have preferred the device with Wi-Fi. Oh well – now I'm adding an ORCA Core.

How should I seriously assess this before installation?
