WELL THOUGHT THROUGH HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AND OUTSTANDING TRAINING

This course is highly recommended for anyone in charge (skipper and owner). Safety equipment is difficult to test beforehand; it has to function perfectly in an emergency. Furthermore, there are many, sometimes contradictory, regulations. This course provides expert guidance on what is effective, proven, and practical. After the course, I hope to avoid critical situations and minimize their consequences.

I highly recommend this course to every boat captain; it's very practical and offers numerous practical tips. The practical implementation in a swimming pool, including the use of a life raft and all the necessary equipment, boarding in full gear, life jacket, oilskins, boots, etc.

The safety training is no walk in the park – right from the start, you're confronted with the harsh reality of everything you've done wrong in your sailing career so far. It's a miracle you're still alive – well, luckily it's not quite that bad, since you did some things right, but the information input is enormous. Tips and tricks for avoiding dangers, on the one hand, and what to do when the time comes, on the other – it's simply too late to think about it.

I would recommend this training to anyone who skippers, whether with friends, with family, on the lake, or on a long voyage.

The only downside is that there's very little time to get to know the other participants. A longer lunch break or a shared dinner or something similar would have been desirable.

Veith Hilger is extremely experienced and is able to convey his knowledge excellently. Even for an experienced sailor with well over 10,000 nautical miles under his belt, there was a lot of interesting information to learn and discuss.

It also includes practical exercises that emphasize the importance of having at least basic knowledge of dangerous situations. A recommendation for every water sports enthusiast!

My wife and I received very well-founded, practical, and experience-based information. Everything else is useless if it hasn't been tested and applied in practice. That's why the training is so valuable. The experiences in the water were incredibly educational. Veit Hilger is extremely competent and spares no effort.

I booked the safety course (World Sailing Approved Offshore Personal Survival Center - formerly ISAF approved) through SVB. The seminar was conducted in March 2025 by Veit Hilger (mtcc - Maritime Training Center Celle). I can highly recommend the seminar, the trainer, the teaching material and the documents provided are very good. I particularly liked the competent manner and the in-depth specialist knowledge, as well as the knowledge transfer by Veit Hilger. The seminar room (at SVB Bremen) and the swimming pool for the practical exercises in Bremen are also good and tidy. I hope that I never have to use the knowledge I have learned at sea, but it was good to deal with all these topics in this way.
