Garmin a guarantee Impeccable, reliable and very precise radar. In the previous boat I had the Phantom 18 Doppler radar and I was extremely satisfied. This time I chose the Phantom 24x Doppler, the substantial difference is the much clearer and more precise separation of the targets thanks to the larger size and the lower angle of the 24 inches compared to the 18. What does this mean? that two boats starting from 200-500 meters away at 50 meters from each other with the 18 inches are seen as a single target, while with the 24 'the two targets are separate and distinct. It seems little but in low visibility situations it can make the difference, of course to mount the 24 you need more space and this space is not always available if there is space to install the 24 given the small difference in cost I recommend the latter.

The powerful GMR FANTOM 24x radome radar antenna from Garmin has a 24 inch dome and 50 watts of output power, up to 60 RPM rotation speed and a range of up to 48 nautical miles. But that's not all - it also allows access to numerous innovative functions, such as MotionScope technology, which uses the Doppler effect.

High-level Refresh Rate
Rotation speed of up to 60 RPM for a refresh rate that can detect movement at any speed and show on any compatible display.

Motionscope Technology
The radar supports MotionScope technology, which uses the Doppler effect to detect and mark moving targets to avoid potential collisions. Targets are highlighted in different colours, so you can easily navigate around other vessels or severe weather. Symbol sizes can also be adjusted if desired.

Power Save Mode
Power save mode is a feature that allows you to choose when to use full power or when to conserve it, so you have power when you need it and can save it when you don't.

Timed Transmit Mode
The new GMR FANTOM 24 x radars also feature a timed transmit mode. With this feature, users can specify transmit times to the second, thus reducing power consumption.

Intuitive Operation
With no complicated user settings to struggle with, these radars are easy to install and start using straight away.

Target Size Allows you to adjust the size of objects on the radar image.	Auto Bird Gain Fishermen know, when you find birds at the water’s surface, you’ll also find fish. To further improve your fishing experience, use Auto Bird Gain, which helps to locate flocks of birds at the water’s surface where baitfish are also likely to be found.
Echo Trails A fading “trail” is left on the screen to help you quickly and easily identify moving targets and potential collision threats.	Dual Range Single radar antenna is capable of providing split screen images on your chartplotter side-by-side, with independent range setting and controls for both close and long range.
Dual Radar Support Provides redundancy and the ability for each display unit on the boat to select data from 1 of 2 different radar sources.	Dynamic Auto Gain Dynamic Auto Gain automatically adjusts to your surroundings for optimal performance in all conditions.
Dynamic Sea Filter Gain automatically adjusts sea clutter for calm, medium and rough sea conditions.	Radar Overlay Overlays the radar image on the chartplotter’s map page. An autopilot or heading sensor is recommended for best results.
MARPA Target Tracking Mini-automatic radar plotting aid (MARPA) tracks up to 30 selected targets, helping you keep track of other vessels and avoid collisions.	Guard Zone Set the safety zone and receive an alarm when an object enters the zone.
VRM and EBL Variable range markers (VRM) and electronic bearing lines (EBL) allow rapid measurements of distance and bearing to vessels and land.
