BD 35 F and O evaporator bought here years ago. Since then runs reliably and quietly on board with me. Easy to install. Power neat cooling performance with acceptable consumption.

So far, all the best. Installation worked great. Let's see what the summer brings and how cold the beer is :-) The standard scope of delivery was a quick mounting bracket included. I had additionally ordered because of false information in the catalog, which I then had to send back annoying. So pay attention, or better ask again.

ISOTHERM Thermostat for Compact Classic Cooling System

Product details

ISOTHERM has the perfect individual solution for many refrigeration applications. The thermostatically controlled Classic Cooling system cools an evaporator using an air-cooled Danfoss compressor, which is installed in your new or exisiting refrigerator or ice box. Included here is the BD35F compressor, together with a flat evaporator. Flat evaporators can be carefully bent to suit box size. These evaporators require less space and provide a more uniform temperature distribution in the cooler, but they have no freezer.

The evaporators can be installed in any position and are equipped with 2 m long pipes and quick connection. These couplings allow for the installation and replacement of parts, the separation of the evaporator and the aggregate without loosing coolant. The systems are also easy to maintain. They only require mounting holes of 30 mm in the refrigerator wall.

The temperature (up to +2°C) is adjusted via the included standard thermostat with an ON-OFF switch. A mounting bracket with click-on lock for time-saving installation is included with the Classic version. All air-cooled versions are equipped with a cooling and ventilation fan.

Unfortunately it turned out to be faulty

Easy assembly. Once started it works fine but after a couple of days it no longer cools. The compressor has lost gas. I thought I was the one responsible for not tightening the quick fittings properly. I proceeded to disassemble it and take it to a refrigeration technician to have it recharged and here, to our surprise, we discovered that the filling valve had not been properly closed in the factory. Once refilled, tightened the valve and reassembled it seems to work very well.

Extremely loud controller

Use the compressor on a 30 ft sailboat. Volume about 30 liters. Assembly was incl. The line connections easily possible. The evaporator (simple plate evaporator) is very thin, so I'm worried that it will be damaged by the refrigerated goods in the sea state, especially since an attachment is provided only at the plate corners. It is inevitable that the evaporator directly supports the refrigerated goods. The compressor runs quite loud despite sound isolation, comparable to the drinking water pump. He only starts for five seconds, with the thermostat turning on and off with a very hard and loud clack. Overall, it is better for sensitive ears to turn off the compressor at night.

Disproportionately expensive. but necessary!

I bought the isothermal device because it was previously installed and I only want to exchange 1 to 1. The old appliances lasted only 5 years. Thereafter, the condenser grids on the compressor were so rusted that it was probably leaking there. For the one 0815 refrigerator for home with the same technology only costs 200 € and here the naked technology for use on yachts 2.5 times, the price performance ratio is super bad. Why is not it stainless? It's wet on a boat. The assembly of the evaporator is also a cramp. It is always installed hanging. There would be a simpler method than having to mount the 4 screws with spacers blind with snake fingers. For example like the compressor unit also with a mounting plate and click closure for the evaporator.
