Product details

The NORDIC series from SUNBEAMSYSTEM was specially developed for use in northern climates. It offers a universal solution for applications with a requirement for lightweight, flexible, and compact solar panels. Because they are more efficient than standard glass solar panels you’ll get higher production from a relatively small size. All NORDIC models feature the unique Shadow Optimized technology for improved performance in partial shading. The Nordic models have a smooth surface that is not scratch-resistant but can occasionally be walked on with clean shoes. Not designed to be walked upon intensively.

Details
  • Semi-flexible, i.e. can be fitted to a curved surface once during installation.
  • Can be walked on if it is mounted/glued firmly over the entire surface on a stable, load-bearing base.
  • 70 cm long PLUS and MINUS connection cables, pre-assembled with standard 4 solar connectors.
  • Integrated bypass diode in the connection box.
  • 3 mm thick
  • Low weight
  • Fixing eyelets: 4 x 5 mm inner Ø

Our hints and tips
  • In the SUNBEAMsystem installation manual provided, you will find all the relevant information on correct module selection, mounting and electrical installation. You will also find a quick guide with lots of relevant information in our download section.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Only SIKASIL WS605S, SIKAFLEX 298FC or ZETTEX MS POLYMER 25 is approved for bonding the modules
  • Please check the solar modules after receiving the goods or before installing the panels.
  • The Nordic modules are fitted with metal eyelets. Do not drill any additional holes in the laminate and only use these eyelets to screw the modules in place. Failure to do so may result in delamination and water penetration.
  • Never place large modules directly on a bimini. Movement of the textile surface caused by the wind will lead to the modules being repeatedly and frequently deflected, which can lead to serious power losses and even breakage of the internal cell connections and thus to premature failure of the modules.
Caution: Failure to observe the above points will result in loss of warranty.
  • Our installation tip: All semi-flexible modules are normally subject to a certain thermal expansion, which should be taken into account during installation in order to avoid unnecessarily straining the laminate at the fixing points.
In order to leave enough room for thermal expansion, we recommend the use of large washers or V4A washers and max. 4 mm screws.
On request, suitable white plastic rosettes are also available in sets of 10 (Li364#30106030).
If you do not wish to fix the modules using the stainless steel eyelets, you can also securely attach the modules using side clips.
These are also available on request as sets of 4 (Li364#30106014). 2 midclip sets (Li364#30106022) are available for two directly adjacent modules, also only on request.
  • A matching connector set or 5 m or 10 m long solar connection cables are optionally available for the modules.
  • When selecting the connection cables, make sure that the cable cross-sections are large enough to keep the voltage losses on the cable path between the solar module and the charge controller as low as possible (< 2%)!

Removable panel
I had a first PS of this brand, I had put it on the companionway cover, quite quickly the protective film became opaque and started to peel. The PS didn't charge much anymore. This is removable, tucked away away from light at the end of each navigation. To be continued. The output of the wires each on one side is not very practical mentally place the panel in the planned location and imagine the routing of the 2 cables...

Everything is good - does exactly what it should.
Mounted vertically on the side of the railing, the module makes a good half of its nominal power for me, doesn't bother at all and still offers wind protection in the cockpit! It could be a little thicker, more stable.

After the warranty period has expired, the solar panel has stopped working
We had purchased 2 SUNBEAM solar modules. A solar module had to be replaced immediately after purchase. When it stopped working after 3 years, we were refused an exchange. We found this unfair, given the relatively high price and the fact that the two solar modules were only used for 3 weeks a year and were always carefully stored.
I would therefore not recommend a SUNBEAM product and would not purchase one in the future.
Our answer
Hallo Herr Aleander R.
