Notes on programming:

AIS MOB transmitters are pre-programmed with an MMSI, which is made up of the serial number, and do not need to be programmed by us before dispatch.

If the AIS MOB transmitter also has a DSC function, you can enter the MMSI number into the device yourself.
Alert your crew and vessels in your immediate vicinity quickly and safely about an MOB. Even in moderate seas, a person overboard can disappear from sight frighteningly quickly. Ocean Signal's rescueME MOB2 combines both AIS and VHF-DSC emergency technology with the latest AIS Class M compliant solution for the maritime market.

Once activated, the location of the MOB2 is regularly updated and displayed on AIS-capable plotters. With its integrated GPS, the MOB2 provides precise location data to all ships in the vicinity. In addition, these vessels are automatically alerted to man-overboard situations via VHF DSC. The Ocean Signal MOB2 is almost half the size of competing products and fits perfectly into inflatable life jackets. It also features a long operating time, automatic activation via an inflatable life jacket, dual IR and white strobe lights and NFC mobile app connectivity.

Ocean Signal rescueME MOB2: Complies with class M standards
The Ocean Signal rescueME MOB2 is compliant with the new regulatory changes prescribed by the EU with regard to AIS emergency beacons. The MOB2 was developed to fulfil the requirements of Class M and is at the forefront of compact yet powerful maritime security solutions. Featuring two-way signalling, real-time location tracking via AIS and seamless integration of DSC for fast alerts, the MOB2 ensures unparalleled reliability and effectiveness in MOB situations at a fraction of the size of other devices on the market.

Smartphone connectivity via near-field communication (NFC)
Integrating NFC technology allows users to conveniently programme the OceanSignal MOB2 via an app with the MMSI numbers and access the device's data from their mobile phone. Simply holding a phone near the MOB2 automatically opens the previously installed Ocean Signal Product app and provides access to a variety of usage data, including current battery life, number of self-tests performed, number of GNSS tests performed and, if applicable, the duration of beacon activation.

We have been using this part since 2017.
My wife and I each have one of these transmitters in our life jackets, and it works really well. We've tried it more than once, albeit very reluctantly.

That's exactly where the problem lies. You put it in your life jacket according to the instructions and activate it. Now, only the small gray slider keeps the transmitter from triggering an alarm. If you keep taking your vest off and on, it can happen that the small slider slips and suddenly triggers an alarm completely unintentionally. This happened to us twice in the first year and then again the following year. Help always came immediately, and the alarms were exactly what you'd want. We just didn't have an emergency. That's why, since 2019, we've only been carrying these transmitters with a backup and have to activate them manually if necessary. Admittedly, that wasn't quite the idea behind our purchase. So we're currently thinking very carefully about what to do next. The expiration date has passed, but we'd like to have a similar transmitter in our vest again. But which one?

``` Therefore, this is only a very conditional recommendation to buy.
