The 2-component epoxy resin complete set consists of the 105 resin and a 205 hardener as well as the accessories required for direct processing: 301-5A pump set, 2 pairs of disposable gloves, 6x 60 ml mixing cups, 3x mixing sticks.
The epoxy system has high strength and outstanding versatility, making it suitable for a wide variety of work and repairs on board. The system is also a good choice for domestic use and other building projects. In addition, the 2-component system is suitable for a wide variety of substrates such as wood, GRP or various metals.
Hardener 205 is used when a particularly fast hardening of the resin is required. WEST SYSTEM Fast Hardener 205 is the best choice in cold weather, as it ensures good hardening even at temperatures as low as +5 °C. When mixed with Resin 105 at a ratio of 5 parts resin to 1 part hardener, the cured mixture produces a high-strength, rigid body with very good cohesive properties and excellent moisture vapour tightness. For an optimal mixing ratio it is recommended to use the West System 300 Mini pumps. One full stroke of resin and hardener gives the right mixing ratio. Pot life: 9 - 12 minutes at 22°C. Hardens to a solid mass in five to seven hours at 22°C. Full hardening after several days.
Possible applications:
- Bonding
- Joining of fillets
- Fastening fittings and casting foundations for fittings
- Fastening of bolts
- Laminating and laminating
- Filling
- Laminating with glass fabric
- Barrier coating
Substrates:
- Wood
- glass fibre
- Composite materials
- Various metals
Addition of fillers
WEST SYSTEM offers a range of fillers that are used to thicken the basic mixture of resin and hardener for specific applications. By adding an appropriate amount of filler, a "thicker" consistency can be achieved (suitable for filling blowholes, filler grooves, for producing large, uneven bonds and for use as a levelling compound).
Use at cold temperatures
Even when using Schneller Hardener 205, it should be noted that cold temperatures increase the viscosity of epoxy resin, making it more difficult to dose, mix and apply the mixture correctly. It is therefore advisable to preheat the resin and hardener containers, e.g. by placing them under a heat lamp. Pre-warmed resins and hardeners adhere less to the mixing pumps, they are easier to mix and have better flow properties. More detailed information can be found in the technical manual.
