WEST SYSTEM 422 Barrier Coat Additive / blistering protection

Aluminium-based filler, designed to improve WEST SYSTEM epoxy resin's moisture exclusion effectiveness further and prevent gel-coat blisters (osmosis). 422 Barrier Coat Additive is ideal for creating a barrier coating that increases abrasion resistance. The filler can be added in weight-percentages from 20 to 25 percent to the epoxy resin mix.

Use:
The main purpose of this barrier coat additive is to create a sufficiently thick layer of epoxy resin that is abrasion and moisture resistant and prevents gelcoat blistering. It serves as an effective basis for subsequent surface treatment. It is recommended to apply at least two coats of epoxy resin as an effective moisture barrier. Three coats if you need to sand again. Each additional layer improves the water moisture resistance. For osmosis repairs and protection, a total of six coats with a thickness of at least 0.6 mm should be applied. The first coat without additives, the other five including the 422 barrier filler. This ensures maximum moisture exclusion effectiveness.
