The clamp does what it's supposed to do.

It holds the tiller extension in place when not in use and, considering it's from a sailmaker's shop, is surprisingly inexpensive.

However, I didn't get to use it because of a long delivery time. In the meantime, instead of my 40-year-old aluminum extension, which was heavily corroded at the stainless steel joint, I fitted one from FRIENDS, which unfortunately wasn't available from SVB.
