Easy to apply 2-part epoxy primer with outstanding waterproofing properties. Provides an abrasion resistant, anti-corrosive barrier coat for GRP, steel and aluminium hulls and prevention against osmosis. Also suitable as a primer for all 2-part paints in above water areas. Mixing ratio 680 : 320ml (volume) / 730 : 270g (weight). Yield: 10 m² per litre. Thinner: E.
Application instructions:
The surface must be dry, clean, free of grease and fully intact. Surface should also be roughened before applying the primer. Make sure to remove the sanding dust thoroughly. Then mix the base and hardener.
Bare fibreglass:
Apply 2-3 layers of epoxy primer to achieve the required film thickness of 150 µm. We recommend 4 to 5 coats for osmosis prevention.
Bare aluminium and alloys:
Apply 3-4 layers of epoxy primer to achieve the required film thickness of 200 µm.
Steel hulls and metal keels:
Sand blast to SA 2½ or hand prepare bare areas. Apply 4-5 layers of epoxy primer to achieve the required film thickness of 200 µm.
Note on colour selection (grey/white):
The technical data sheet states that the grey shade should preferably be used for underwater areas and the white shade for above-water areas.
Both colour variants are technically identical and can also be used in combination, e.g. in alternating layers - both above water and underwater.
However, the white colour gives a finer and smoother surface, which is why it is recommended - especially as the last layer - for above-water areas. The grey colour, on the other hand, offers an optimal adhesion base for antifoulings and should be used as a final layer in underwater areas.
Consequently, the general recommendation is "grey under water, white above water". In practice, however, the actual difference is minimal and barely noticeable when applied with a brush or roller.
