The high-performance, self-polishing CLASSIC antifouling from Hempel protects your underwater hull throughout the season. Suitable for boats made of glass fibre, wood, plywood and steel. Not to be used on light metal alloys such as aluminium. Risk of corrosion on direct contact. Available in different versions.
Hempel CLASSIC is authorised in the Netherlands, but the authorisation number required by Dutch regulations is missing on the label, which can lead to problems during inspections and possibly result in fines.
Application instructions
Technical data
- Theoretical yield: 12 m²/l.
- Processing temperature: +10° C to +30° C
- Drying time at 20 °C: 4 hours
- Overcoating time at 20 °C: min. 5 hours
Application
For uncoated surfaces: Remove salts, detergents, dirt and marine growth using a high-pressure cleaner. Prime the prepared surface with
LIGHT PRIMER and then, while the primer is still tacky, coat with
UNDERWATER PRIMER to act as an adhesion facilitator.
For coated surfaces: Remove fouling and impurities using a high-pressure cleaner. In case of unknown antifouling, wet sand the substrate and remove dust. If the previous antifouling layer is in poor condition, seal the area to be treated with
UNDERWATER PRIMER. If the condition of the previous coating is bad all round, it is recommended to remove it and then start a new layering process (see above).
Use on GRP, wood and steel/lead: Every 12 months, apply two coats to the surface to be treated. At the waterline and on heavily used areas of the underwater hull, apply a further coat. For Sweden, Finland, Netherlands apply only one coat of antifouling.
Do not apply to aluminium or other light alloys.
Note
Handle with care. Before and during application, all safety instructions on the packaging and containers, the safety data sheets prepared by HEMPEL and local or national safety regulations must be followed.
