I thought it was quieter and has the defect of vibrating when it is in extension

Disappointed
After seven years, water got into the device through the keypad when it rained, total loss. The structurally identical replacement now easily costs twice as much as in 2015.

Unfortunately defective after a very short time (100 sm)
It was loud and broke down after just a few days of sailing. A mechanical defect (rotating spindle?), not an electronic issue.
So, returning it under warranty for repair or replacement. Hopefully, it will last longer afterward.

HS after 8 p.m.
First use, everything worked perfectly, the wind picked up a little more in the early morning and the pilot got stuck at maximum thrust without returning when the boat fell back. Since then it has been impossible to make it work, is there a factory reset possible to do with a key combination. Do you have the contact details for the after-sales service?

Assessment two years later
This is my second TP32... bought on SVB (safe in case of failure of the first! ) because very happy with the first... but .. the firmware of the latter is different from the older one .. for example for the automatic transfer .. and then ... above all .. regularly, the most recent one lost track or made large differences ... I deduced that I did not know how to adjust it and I did not use it (out of laziness. ..) only from the first until it broke down in the 2022 season... But (and I regret it.. ) I therefore only tried to operate this new TP 32 again at the end of summer 2022.. very unsatisfied with his behavior, I realized too late that I had passed the two-year deadline. !! for warranty..
I therefore sent it back to SIMRAD at the start of the 2023 season to benefit from the 6-month warranty in the event of repair (and therefore covering the navigation period of 2023)..
What was my surprise when I read the estimate that I accepted!!!!... "device already disassembled, missing a part.. repair package 270 euros" .. it has been working properly since then and I checked that it was indeed the serial number of my device...
So what is this mess!!!
In any case, the moral of the story is not to neglect the warranty period and to trust your judgment... and I therefore stay a little behind on electronics and SVB... or after-sales service. SIMRAD?
How to know?
Otherwise I am very happy with the TP32 on a 30 footer .. because otherwise why would I have tried a second purchase ...

Hello, I'm currently building a B&G system with a Triton2 unit, chartplotter, wind instrument, depth sounder, and everything. Can I control the Simrad tiller with the Triton unit? If yes, what do I need to buy in addition? Thanks for the response.

Answer from SVB customer service
Andreas M. | May 12, 2026

Hi Nino, the Triton 2 alone isn't enough; you'll also need the Pilot controllers #81666# and #81543#, because the Triton doesn't send a control signal. This option is available with the TP22 and TP32 tiller pilots.

Should I use a silicon (liquid) lubricant on the shaft/ram of my Simrad TP 32 tiller pilot or is it not necessary to lubricate it?

Dear John, not really necessary. It’s an option but not a ‘must’.

Hi. Just received my Simrad TP32. Is a handheld remote control available for this tiller pilot? Thanks. John Kinsella

B&G

Hi John, yes! You can steer it via a cable connected (networked) MFD, like Vulcan or Zeus series or remote control via bluetooth wireless WR10 controller.
