Filling spout very good, lid very bad

I really wanted a lockable cap. But now, after a few years, I have to buy the same cap again in the non-lockable version. The reason is that the plastic thread of the cap rubs against the hard metal thread of the spout. Frequent use on my ETAP 37s has damaged the plastic thread so much that I can only open and close the cap with pliers. Even with maximum force, I can only tighten the cap to a gap of about 1 cm from the spout – and I'm afraid I'll break it even more. Just to be safe, I tape over this gap every time. This thread damage probably shouldn't happen, but it obviously can. It's a shame, because otherwise it's a nice cap. But the non-lockable cap also has a metal thread – which now seems very sensible to me.

Bocal de enchimento frágil

Instalei na minha embarcação um bocal igual, para substituir um bocal Rutgerson, no entanto, passados 15 dias tive dificuldade em introduzir a chave para abrir o bocal dada a concentração de salitre no interior da ranhura para a chave. Coloquei WD40 e, assim, já foi possível abrir o bocal mas com esforço na peça que protege o local para a inserção da chave, a mesma deixou de fechar completamente e, assim, deixou de proteger o local para colocar a chave. Muito provavelmente terei que voltar a substituir o bocal de enchimento por outro que ofereça uma qualidade, operacionalidade, durabilidade e resistência superior. Considerando o material utilizado na construção deste bocal, latão cromado em prejuízo do aço inox 316, a fragilidade do mesmo e a dificuldade em abrir, não posso recomendar a compra e utilização deste bocal de enchimento.

Fuel tank filler cap – fragile
I installed a similar cap on my boat to replace a Rutgerson cap; however, after 15 days I had difficulty inserting the key to open the cap due to the build-up of salt inside the keyhole. I applied WD40, and was then able to open the cap, but due to the strain on the part that protects the key insertion point, it no longer closes completely and thus no longer protects the area where the key is inserted. I will most likely have to replace the filler cap again with one that offers superior quality, functionality, durability and strength. Given the material used in the construction of this cap – chrome-plated brass rather than 316 stainless steel – its fragility and the difficulty in opening it, I cannot recommend the purchase and use of this filler cap."
