The Phoenix Smart IP43 is a powerful charger that can supply up to three battery banks. It can be monitored and operated via Bluetooth using an app. The universal high-tech battery charger is suitable for almost any type of battery. Even for lithium-ion batteries (LiFePO4). Thanks to the 2 isolated charging outputs, a lithium battery can be charged simultaneously on one output and a lead-acid battery on the other, for example.

Bluetooth
The charger can be controlled via Bluetooth using a smartphone, tablet or laptop. There is also a VE.Direct connection and a freely programmable relay. The Smart Battery Sense for controlling the battery temperature compensation can also be connected as an option. The tried-and-tested five-stage charging algorithm and the option to programme your own charging algorithm make the Phoenix Smart Charger IP43 a universally applicable high-tech battery charger.

Charging algorithm
Phoenix Smart offers a five-stage adaptive charging system. Adaptive means that the charge is automatically adapted to the battery. In addition to the usual three charging stages (bulk, absorption and float), the Phoenix Smart offers a fourth and fifth stage: storage for storage, recondition for recovery. After a deep discharge, the constant voltage phase is automatically extended to ensure that the battery is fully recharged. The storage mode is always activated if no discharge has taken place within 24 hours.

Longevity
In order to protect the batteries in the best possible way, the Phoenix Smart offers various features such as the BatterySafe mode, which prevents excessive gassing, the temperature sensor, which ensures a decreasing charging voltage as the battery temperature rises, or the voltage sensor to compensate for voltage losses due to cable resistance, so that the battery always receives the correct charging current.

Victron products and SVB service: a perfect symbiosis.

After getting extremely frustrated with all the cheap LiFePO4 chargers from the Amazon, which either smelled like a chemical plant or had fans that drove me absolutely crazy, I reluctantly switched to Victron.

Sure, the device costs three times as much as a cheap Chinese charger, but it's worth every penny. It's completely silent and charges my 700-amp auxiliary battery without any problems. At the same time, it maintains a low current in the starter battery.

... And it was a "last-minute" purchase; I needed something reliable quickly because my 1kW solar panel system was no longer able to charge my leisure battery under the harsh winter conditions of northern Germany. Normally, I'm in a more southerly climate at this time of year and have always managed without shore power.

Originally, I was planning on getting a Bulltron combination inverter with a 100A charger (mains priority switching, 16A fuse, residual current device, Victron CAN bus). However, it wasn't available locally on such short notice.

Perhaps SVB will add the Bulltron devices to their product range; I'd be just about the first customer to buy one immediately!
