Because practical experience is indispensable!
I can wholeheartedly recommend the skipper training in Vlisslingen to anyone who takes their boat out to sea.

Here, even the theoretical part focuses very practically on the things you need to know and be able to do to be safe at sea.

Practical training is paramount: tidal sailing, night sailing, docking maneuvers (including single-handed), man-overboard maneuvers, sailing with storm sails, and finally, the jump into the life raft.

We tried it in April in strong winds and cold water—an experience none of us will forget!

On top of that, the instructor is extremely personable, calmly stoic, and possesses a wealth of experience, fully committed to the subject.

It couldn't be better!

Highly recommended!

A "must-do" workout!
I can only agree with Jacques's words; the training is excellent!

Where else can you get such a wealth of practical knowledge (and in a serious yet humorous way) that goes beyond sailing school standards?

Whether it's trip planning, navigation, crew and boat safety, and practical handling of the boat, sails, locks, harbor maneuvers, MOB "live," etc., everything was well-founded. A rock-solid combination of theory and practice!

And then a portion of the practical training took place in one of the world's busiest waterways, with currents and tides. In a word, fantastic!

For me personally, however, the training could have been a day longer to allow everything to sink in.

Repeating is not out of the question -)

Skipper training in Vlissingen is highly recommended!
I participated in the skipper training in Vlissingen and can recommend it to anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge and gain real experience.

The training was very practical and covered many important topics: navigation, harbor maneuvers, MOB, weather, tides, radio, and much more.

The area around the Westerschelde is ideal—there are lots of currents, traffic, and lighthouses—and you really learn something! In bad weather, you react responsibly without compromising safety.

The instructor was competent, calm, and very experienced. A lot was explained, but also practical—not a classroom-style approach, but real training on board.

Conclusion: If you don't just want a license but want to truly operate a boat, this is the right place for you.

Very good content in a good area
As a veteran DSVBR representative with 30 years of experience, the course, which is heavily influenced by the RYA, was very rewarding. The only minor negative point was that, for organizational reasons, there were five of us plus a coach (6) on a Hanse 355 with a traveler and mainsheet in the cockpit, and unfortunately, we didn't head for the Solent. Since I assume this was an exception due to the special circumstances, I highly recommend it!

Skipper training
The entire training was a great success! The topics were taught objectively and, above all, practically! The entire team is very competent and conveys the topics constructively, just as they should be in real sailing life. I would definitely do it again.
