Information about the sailing area:
The training courses are held under normal weather conditions, including strong winds, but not in gale force or hurricane-force winds. This is simply an attitude of good, professional seamanship, according to which the ship and crew are not put in danger through negligence.
The training courses start in Vlissingen in the Westerschelde and lead into the English Channel. In this area you will find all the necessary conditions to gain the experience required from an experienced sailor to a captain. These include tides, currents, heavy shipping traffic, sandbanks, beacons and a variety of different radar echoes - an ideal training location. If the weather conditions become extreme, there is the option of moving to the more sheltered tidal area of the Oosterschelde.
Time:
Arrival is from 6 pm the day before, departure is possible from around 6 pm on the last day. Participants stay overnight in a holiday flat, which is already included in the price. The boarding fee is not included in the price.
