In this two-day course certified by the World Sailing App. H certified two-day course, you will gain the necessary knowledge to react appropriately to serious injuries or illnesses of your crew members during sea voyages. You will learn the correct steps and actions a skipper should take in an emergency to ensure the safety and well-being of the crew.
In essence, this course addresses the following questions:
What is the best way to prepare the crew and vessel to prevent illness and injury?
Is a crew member or the skipper able to do the right and necessary thing in the event of an emergency?

- Initial diagnosis - approach
- Correct positioning and positioning
- First aid measures
- Suturing wounds
- Adequate treatment of acute injuries and illnesses
- Recognising and preventing exhaustion and overexertion (fatigue)
- Increasing physical performance and reaction speed
- Reduction of individual stress situations under medical aspects
- Alerting and communicating with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC)
- Support with the diagnosis by the radio doctor
- Implementation of his instructions and treatment
- Preparation for a possible transfer to a SAR helicopter
This seminar is aimed at sailors and water sports enthusiasts who are travelling in areas with poor medical care or in areas far from the coast. As a general rule, if a harbour cannot be reached within 12 hours, you are on your own at sea.
Examination:
If desired, an examination can be taken at the end of the seminar to obtain a certificate. The fee of €30 for the final exam is not included in the price and must be paid in cash on site.
