Tip if the display shows "OL".
I have an alternator on my boat that is mounted on the shaft and supplies power when the machine is not running. I wanted to use the ammeter to measure how much power is generated depending on the speed. I installed the ammeter exactly as instructed in the "Monitor Inboard Alternator". Unfortunately, the display did not show any amperes, but only "OL", indicating whether current was flowing or not. "OL" means "OverLoad", which is not mentioned in the documentation. So the ammeter means that more than 100A is flowing, even though the alternator is not running. Hm?
Troubleshooting then provided a very simple explanation. One of the two 1A fuses in the measuring line was interrupted. So around 13V was measured at one end of the shunt and 0V at the other end. This voltage difference then calculates an almost infinitely high current. A trivial but not entirely obvious error, especially since in my case the fuse wasn't completely broken and was always open when I removed it but put it back in and it was interrupted.
So I'm now very happy with the ammeter and am happy when it shows over 10A at 7kn. And maybe my tip will help someone.
