Good effect even under changing conditions The processing took place in spring 2023. According to the manufacturer's instructions, a layer of conversion primer and then 2 layers of Hempaspeed TF were applied to the old AF. The sailboat was sailed in different waters during the season, fresh, brackish and seawater, and was also parked for long periods of time. When the crane was removed in the fall, there were only small traces of slimy growth, which could be completely washed off even with light equipment (hose and sponge). A neighbor had significantly more vegetation with "conventional" AF (however, the age of its AF is unknown). The layer thickness appears to have been halved, so a new layer will be applied in the coming WL.

Very satisfied We've driven it for two seasons now. Repainted once in the second season and hardly any growth in both years. We will repaint it again this spring. Area is IJsselmeer and Wadden Lake. Clear recommendation, finally you no longer have to constantly have to polish yourself on the dinghy or on your body when you get to the underwater ship.

Hempaspeed TF from Hempel is a high-performance, thin-film, biocide-free coating for the underwater area of your boat. It not only protects your vessel, but also the environment. This underwater paint forms an ultra-smooth surface that minimises growth and protects against corrosion.

Sustainability meets the latest technology
The newest technology combines the best of thin-film coatings and hard antifouling with a patented hydrogel formula. The result is a high-performance hybrid antifouling that is completely biocide-free. It forms an extremely smooth surface that significantly minimises resistance, and is extremely easy to clean with no chemicals. Thanks to these environmentally friendly properties, Hempaspeed TF is ideal for inshore waters, rivers and lakes as well as freshwater areas with light fouling conditions and can also be used in the Netherlands. especially for areas where restrictions do not allow use of biocides.

Compatible boat and hull types
Hempaspeed TF can be applied to regatta sailing boats, racing boats and trailer boats and other pleasure boats with GRP, steel or aluminium hulls.

Highly versatile
With the Conversion Primer (available separately), Hempaspeed can also be applied to existing antifouling. Hempel's Conversion Primer is a two-component epoxy resin and, thanks to its extremely thin layer, adheres even to antifouling products containing Teflon, such as International's VC17m.

Hinweis!
Biocide-free antifouling is a green alternative to chemical antifouling. Unlike biocide-containing antifoulings, biocide-free antifouling does not kill marine organisms such as algae and mussels, but makes it more difficult for growth to adhere. Regular cleaning of the hull is necessary to ensure that biocide-free antifoulings can effectively prevent fouling to take hold. The use of biocide-free antifoulings is advisable in waters with low or medium fouling levels, for example in freshwater or cooler waters.

Super Antifouling

Very easy to work with. Super smooth after painting.
Please use a breathing mask (Dräger or similar) as it has a very strong smell.

Recommendation

After three months in fresh water, only minimal algae growth was seen. This can be easily removed with a sponge. For test purposes, I left an area on the keel with the vc17 from last year. The growth is much stronger there. The application took some time because the primer had to be applied over the vc17 first. But overall it was doable. The Hempaspeed itself in particular is very easy to work with. In short, a clear recommendation.

Good biocide-free antifouling in freshwater

Antifouling can be easily applied to Conversion Primer with a roller, covers well, yield corresponds to manufacturer's specifications, no significant growth after 6 weeks in fresh water with the boat being used at least once a week. The effect over the full season cannot yet be assessed on my boat, but it was good for clubmates in the previous season.
