Product details

Quick-drying one-component polyurethane clear coat. COMPASS is a high gloss varnish for interior and exterior use. Coverage: 14.3 m²/litre. Thinning: brush - Thinner No. 1, spray - Thinner No. 3.

Processing instructions:

For coated surfaces:
Degrease surface with Thinner No. 1 and sand with 280-320 grit, clean and allow to dry.

For uncoated surfaces:

Bare wood: Sand first with 80-180 grit then with 280 grit and remove dust. Then apply wood treatment and allow to dry.
Oily woods: Thoroughly degrease with Thinner No. 1. Allow to dry well.

Application: Thoroughly clean and degrease. Sand and rinse the substrate. Then apply the 1st coat of Compass diluted by max. 30 %. Subsequent coats can be thinned up to 15%. After every 2nd coat, sand with 320-400 grit.

Number of coats: 3 - 6
Drying time at 15° C: 3 hours
Processing time at 15° C: min. 24 hours
Processing temperature: +5 °C to max. 35° C

Quick drying paint.

It is not the best flatting on the market, but it has some advantages that make me prefer it.
It dries quickly and allows you to give at least 2 coats a day.
It requires sanding every 2 or 3 coats.
It is very covering and has a nice amber color.
The disadvantages are good UV resistance but not exceptional, it tends to dry in the can if it is not closed and sealed very well
Give 6 coats for a more lasting result.

Mixed in the interior

I have always used International Goldspar (matte) for the interior. I was very happy with that, but I really wanted a little more shine for the floorboards overhaul. Mixed the two and got 23 COMPASS to 13 Goldspar to a nice understated sheen level. For use on deck, what Compass actually. I can't say anything.
