The Lynx Shunt VE.Can from VICTRON is an integral part of the modular Lynx distribution system and consists of a positive and negative busbar, a socket for a main fuse and a built-in battery monitor. The shunt can communicate with a GX device such as the Cerbo GX via the VE.Can connection. In addition, the Lynx Shunt VE.Can features an LED for status display. The delivery contents include two RJ45-VE.Can terminating resistors, which must be used when connecting to a GX device, and a temperature sensor.
Main fuse
The main fuse for the system is located in the housing of the Lynx shunt. If the fuse blows, the LED lights up red and an alarm message is sent to the GX device. The M10 version of the Lynx shunt offers the option of installing the dummy busbar included in the delivery contents instead of the fuse. This allows you to place the main fuse flexibly outside the shunt, which can be an advantage for larger systems.
GX device
The Lynx shunt VE.Can can be monitored and adjusted using a GX device. The GX device can be connected to the VRM portal, enabling remote monitoring. The integrated battery monitor contains a shunt and battery monitoring electronics; this data is then read out via the GX device.
NMEA 2000
A connection to an NMEA 2000 network can be made using a VE.Can to NMEA 2000 Micro-C cable.
Alignment
When integrating the Lynx Shunt VE.Can into your system, you must ensure that the batteries are connected on the left-hand side and the rest of the DC system (loads and chargers) on the right-hand side. This ensures that the state of charge of the batteries can be calculated correctly.
