Product details

With the new Autopilot EVOLUTION from Raymarine, steering your boat becomes easier than before. Difficult calibration is no longer necessary. Due to the intelligent EV-sensor, the autopilot monitors multiple ship movements in all directions and automatically adjusts the steering to match existing sea conditions, without the user having to adjust any other settings. Safe arrival at the planned destination is guaranteed. A further big advantage of the autopilot is flexibility of installation. The device itself can be installed where it is easiest for you to access, while the EV-sensor can be mounted where it makes most sense to you, no matter if above or below deck. There are no restrictions concerning the installation compared to common heading sensors.The core of the sensor is water-protected to IPx6 and IPx7. You can connect the different components very easily via SeaTalk. The required cables and rudder reference unit are included. Furthermore, the autopilot is NMEA2000 compatible.
This set includes the EV-1 sensor, ACU-200 drive control unit, p70s control unit (ideal for sailboats), a type 1 mechanical linear drive and the Evolution cable set.

Sensor EV-1

The EV-1 is designed for Evolution mechanical and hydraulic autopilot systems. The SeaTalkng network enables a single cable connection for power and data to the Evolution ACU (actuator control unit) and extended SeaTalkng and NMEA2000 networks.

ACU-200 Drive Control Unit

The robust ACU-200 provides reliable power for the drive of the autopilot and can provide the SeaTalkng bus with power. The ACU-200 can steer drives of type 1. With rudder reference transducer.

p70s Control Unit

The p70s control unit is operated via function keys and was specially developed for sailing yachts. The sophisticated LED backlight delivers brilliant colours and contrasts with low power consumption. The large horizontal and vertical viewing angle enables reading from almost any viewing direction. The p70s uses the LightHouse user interface.

Mechanical linear drive type 1 (12 V)

The mechanical linear drive type 1 by Raymarine offers:
  • enormous thrust, short hard/hard-helm changing times and quiet operation
  • low resistance,to minimise the influence on the steering, when autopilot is on standby
  • a powerful electro engine that steers a planetary transmission with a fail-safe clutch over a strong belt drive
  • high performance at low power consumption

Exchange of old Autohelm AP to new Raymarine
Drive, Rudder Sensor, Control Unit fitting perfectly into the previous holes and fittings. ACU is slightly bigger than the old one. Easy connection of the new SeatalkNG. Log, Echosounder and Wind Sensor require a connection via converter cable to the new SeatalkNG as they got their power supply from the old ACU.

Very good autopilot
The mechanical installation, especially of the linear drive, wasn't exactly straightforward. This was less due to the drive itself than to the space constraints on the ship. The subsequent commissioning was problem-free. However, we can be extremely satisfied with the result. Excellent course stability, and the wind vane steering also works perfectly.

Everything received perfectly.
Just starting to test it. A huge improvement on my autopilot. All very well.
My only regret (maybe I haven't found any additional information) is that Raymarine doesn't offer a MOB system that disengages the autopilot when sailing solo?

Hey I am looking to buy an autopilot system for my 39 foot catamaran it is an privilige 39 with a displacement of about 7 tons would it be adviseable to use the ev 200 linear pack?

Dear William, This autopilot is rated for boats up to 11 tons. Your Privilège 39 (7 tons) falls within that range. However, catamarans have more windage and require more steering force, especially in rough conditions. This could overload the Type 1 linear drive over time. If you plan offshore passages, heavy weather sailing, or long autopilot use, the EV-400 is a safer bet. Best regards, The SVB Team
