Hello, I bought an older sailboat with a functional and very well-preserved Autohelm 6000 autopilot. I would like to use the windvane function and I would need to add a wind sensor to the system. I would need to know which type is compatible. What should I buy. Alternatively, if I wanted to modernize the autopilot, if I could keep the original type 1 linear drive and replace only the computer or control unit. Thank you for the information. MartinPecina
Dear Martin, for this kind of inquiries please contact us at [email protected]. Our team will be happy to assist you.
with this linear drive type 1 can i drive via NMEA2000 Garmin 922 plus plotter? What else do I need to buy to have an autopilot that works and I can drive through that plotter?
Dear customer, yes but we recommend a complete package for installation instead such as a new Raymarine Autopilot Package.
good evening When I asked you if they had an autopilot for a sailboat with a displacement of 8,000 kg, I forgot to inform you that the sailboat is made of iron cement and has tiller. With this additional information, will the recommendation I received from your Raymarine EV-200 Autopilot Evaporator - Manufacturer's Serial No. T70158, remain? best regards Francisco Moita
Hello Francisco, thank you for your message. On a sailboat with tiller it is normally very complicated, because you have to install the linear drive from the EV-200 autopilot direct on your rudder shaft under deck. If this possible to install it, you can choose between the EV-200 with Type 1 linear drive or EV-400 with Type 2 or 3 linear drive it depence how much pressure you have on your tiller. On a 8,000 kg boat is normally the Type 1 linear drive is working fine. Please be aware the linear drive will increase your rudder pressure, because you have to move the tiller of this drive with each move of your rudder. Kind regards Raymarine
