If you want to use the Doppler and MARPA features of this radar do you need an EV1 or EV2 add-on?
An electronic compass is necessary for full functionality at all times. An EV-1 can be used for this purpose. However, it does not necessarily have to be this compass.
Does this radar need a Raymarine MFD or can it talk directly to an iPad / Laptop ?
The radar cannot talk directly to an iPad, you need to interface it either with WiFi or network cable to the compatible MFD. You can then interface the entire system with an iPad via various Raymarine Apps
