Mercury 3.5 hp 4 stroke

My grandfather had the first 5 hp Mercury 4T back then. I drove this for many hours as a child.
After successfully passing my driving test, I drove two two-stroke engines. Now my girlfriend and I have an 8 meter spitzgatter and wanted a dinghy just for the harbor.
Then we came across this outboarder.
This is super light in my opinion, the consumption, since we often drive at idle speed, is, in my opinion, around 0.1-0.15 liters, so that you can drive forever on just one tank of fuel. The engine has excellent idle performance. (No stuttering or stalling), but only after approx. 2-3 hours of operation.
We are very convinced of this engine!!
If an outboard orderer, then Mercury!!

One more point, very easy to use.

dinghy engine

Drive for the dinghy (Rib). Light, but still sufficiently strong dinghy motor that is quite uncomplicated. The screw-in flushing connection to which a water hose can be connected is very practical.
The scope of delivery with engine oil, two emergency stop clips, on-board tools and short and understandable operating instructions was also very positive.
I would also like to emphasize the good telephone advice from SVB and the super fast delivery. Ordered Monday morning and delivered Wednesday noon - tpp)

Good little engine

I use it with a 3.20 m polyester boat on the coast for fishing at less than 2 miles, either to train in slow motion, or to sail. Its power is largely sufficient and its consumption very low (less than a liter of gasoline for a morning of fishing). It's just a bit noisy at high revs. This is the 2nd one I have and am very happy with it.

Mercury 3.5HP - how has been your experience with this outboard? I have seen some very BAD reviews around 2011 to 2015 on this outboard, not starting, not running well, etc. I HEARD that mercury had re-designed and copied the much better Tohatsu 3.5HP. Can anyone who has bought this Mercury 3.5HP Four Stroke in the last 1-2 years comment on reliability, use, and "happiness" with the outboard? many thanks, Joao Mendes
